Trade experts are already calling Tubelight – one of the biggest debacles in Salman Khan’s career after Wanted. Considering how Salman Khan’s films perform during Eid, distributors have paid a titanic sum for film’s theatrical rights.

The theatrical rights of Tubelight were sold for Rs 132 crore. It’s also reported that TV and music rights were sold for Rs 55 crore and Rs 38 crore respectively. Girish Johar said that TV and music rights deals would depend on film’s overall box office collection. Distributors who have bought the film’s theatrical rights have lost some money. They can lose around Rs 50-70 crore on the film.

Tubelight, directed by Kabir Khan, is an official remake of the 2015 American war drama Little Boy, set in the backdrop of the 1962 Sino-Indian War. Like the film it has been based on, Tubelight has been panned by critics. Fans have also been not-so-accepting of Salman in a non-macho avatar.

Day 1 – Friday (June 23) – Rs 21.15 crore

Day 2 – Saturday (June 24) – Rs 21.17 crore

Day 3 – Sunday (June 25) – Rs 22.45 crore

Day 4 – Monday (June 26) – Rs 19.09 crore

Day 5 – Tuesday (June 27) – Rs 12 crore

Day 6 – Wednesday (June 28) – Rs 6.50 crore

Day 7 – Thursday (June 29) – Rs 4.50 crore

Day 8 – Friday (June 30) – Rs 3.25 crore

Day 9 – Saturday (July 1) – Rs 4.75 crore

Day 10 – Sunday (July 2) – Rs 5 crore

Day 11 – Monday (July 3) – Rs 3.75 crore (approx)

Approximate eleven-day box-office collection of Tubelight: Rs 123.61 crore

Tubelight also features Sohail Khan, Chinese actor Zhu Zhu, Matin Rey Tangu and late actor Om Puri in pivotal roles. Tubelight’s average show has clearly left a huge dent in distributors’ pockets. When Salman Khan was recently asked about the film’s bad reviews, the actor sportingly replied,” The critics were like really good. I was expecting minus 3 and minus 4 and they gave me 1 and 2, apparently. So, I am very pleased with that.”
